Travel Tip of the Day: Thanksgiving Carry-Ons

Thanksgiving Carry-Ons
Traveling over the holidays and not sure what you can bring through the security checkpoint? Here’s a quick list, from the TSA, of liquids, aerosols and gel items that CAN’T be carried on—and should instead be put in your checked bag, shipped ahead, or left at home this week (and generally) if they’re above the permitted 3.4 oz.
- Cranberry sauce
- Cologne
- Creamy dips and spreads (cheeses, peanut butter, etc.)
- Gift baskets with food items (salsa, jams and salad dressings)
- Gravy
- Jams
- Jellies
- Lotions
- Maple syrup
- Oils and vinegars
- Perfume
- Salad dressing
- Salsa
- Sauces
- Snow Globes
- Soups
- Wine, liquor and beer
The good news is that you CAN bring pies and cakes through security checkpoints (though they’re subject to additional screenings). Here’s the TSA’s full list of prohibited items.
